Digital
Camera Under $100?
You bet! Find the
best digital cameras for under $100!
|
Digital
Cameras come in all shapes, sizes, and price ranges. Can you find
a digital camera under $100 that takes good photos? You bet, there
are several models that cost under $100 that are great little
digital cameras. Most are point and shoot entry level digital
cameras but you could also opt for a used model that cost well
over $100 when first released.
So there
are really two paths to finding the best camera deal for under
$100. You can look for used models that someone is selling since
they replaced it with a more expensive model or look for the best
deal on a brand new model. Both ways can get you an excellent
digital camera for a great price.
If you want
to look for a used model, eBay or your local Craigs List website
would probably be your best bet. There are risks in buying any
electronic device used. There's no real way to tell by looking at
it whether it will work or not. And most sellers of used equipment
don't offer any recourse if the camera arrives damaged or has a
problem. Given that the new models in this price range have many
features and new technology, I'm not sure a used digital camera is
a good value. It's a personnel choice but just remember that there
is more risk for the any cost savings.
Before we
get into which new models might be best, lets
make a quick list of must have features. Any camera you consider
should have the following:
- Easy to operate
- At least 5 megapixels on photos, this works well for prints up to 8 X 10
- Optical zoom, 3X is fine for most situations
- built in flash
- both eye viewfinder and LCD or Bright LCD of over 2"
- Takes short 1-3 minute videos too
- Brand name - I say this for quality control
All these
features are easy to find on the new models, it make take a little
more effort to find all on the used models. Also take a look
at any reviews available but take any review with a grain of salt.
One reason is that many only make reviews when they are unhappy,
others may not have read any instructions, or there could be other
forces at work. So read the reviews and use your own judgment.
OK, now we have our list of features, lets look at the two
possible choices of used or new digital cameras.
Many people
prefer new models since all come with a money back guarantee and
warranty. That is probably the most popular reason someone might
choose new instead of used. Rather than sift through the 100's of
digital camera models for under $100, we've chosen three that meet
all the criteria and then some. We've based these choices on
price, value, and the many positive reviews for each model.
There's no order of since all three cameras are excellent options.
