CoolPix Cameras
Your choice of 3
categories and 18 models!
|
Nikon just
brought out 5 new CoolPix models in this year alone. Add in all
the previous Nikon CoolPix cameras and the choices are
overwhelming to say the least. Although Nikon is very well known
for their high end SLR models, the CoolPix digital cameras
represent the majority of their sales.
We're going
to zero in on the new L series, S series, and the P series. These
are all the latest and greatest models with features and prices
that match the beginner, intermediate, and advanced users
accordingly.
Nikon
CoolPix cameras are all what we call point and shoot. This
category is very popular since many of the cameras features are
automated with little input from the user. A huge amount of time
and money has gone into the design and features to give even the
causal photographer the opportunity to get great photos in almost
any situation.
We'll start
with the entry level L series that's designed specifically for the
novice photographer. These are the least expensive and offer a
great solution for people who just want to take pictures and don't
want to learn all about photography or digital cameras. Ease of
use and reasonable price are the two key elements of these digital
cameras.
Entry
Lever Nikon CoolPix L22
The most
popular and most favorable reviews make the Nikon CoolPix L22,
the top dog in this category. Nikon has developed a set of
features and automatic enhancements that make this digital camera
a great choice for beginners. Here are the main features that make
this digital camera such a big hit:
-
12.0 megapixels that can produce
prints as large as 16 x 20 inches
-
3.6x Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens (this is far better
lens than most models at this price point)
-
3-way VR Image Stabilization System that eliminates blurred images
-
Large and bright 3.0-inch LCD
-
Easy Auto Mode with Scene Auto
Selector
-
Video capture at 640 x 480 movies with sound at 30fps (improves replay on any device)
-
Powered by AA size/R6 batteries
-
Large easy to see and use controls
-
Small
(3.9" X 2.4" X 1.2") and lightweight (6.5
ounces)
Throw in
the price of around $110 and you have a great entry level digital
camera that is fully automated. This is a very affordable digital
camera and is about as easy as it gets to take great photos for
the casual users. The reviews are very favorable and backed by the
Nikon reputation for quality.

Then there
were about 65 glowing reviews extolling all the great features and
pictures. So who do you believe? After reading the poor reviews, I
went with the 65 that liked the camera. And as it turns out, my
Mom loves it and is a happy camper. She gets good results, has no
problems with taking pictures or uploading them to the computer.
And I made the mistake of showing her how to email them so she
constantly is spewing photos to all of us on her email list =8~).
Top Dog
Nikon CoolPix P100
And the
third is
the Nikon CoolPix P100 model. A
photography buff or advanced user going to love this new CoolPix
P100, end of story. This is the replacement for the P90 and
everything that the prior model didn't have, the P100 excels at
and more. How about a 26X Zoom, BSI CMOS sensor, 1080P High
Definition Video with stereo microphone, and a 3 inch LCD with
460,00 bits for high resolution and adjustable views (it tilts for
easier viewing).
This model
has just about everything possible to enhance and improve shooting
photos in any conditions. Manual and auto controls are able to
control every aspect of adjustment and the BSI CMOS sensor is one
of the latest technologies available in any digital camera, at any
price. For about $350, this is an excellent value and other than
crossing the line to a SLR, one of the best cameras on the market
today. Here's a quick list of features:

The CoolPix
P100 is the top of the line in CoolPix models and rightfully so
based on the huge feature set and some of the best technology
available. Like all long range telephoto capable digital cameras,
when cranking it up past 10x it may be a good idea to have a
tripod or other ways of holding the camera very still due to the
long exposures.
So there
you have it, our three picks of the best and latest Nikon ColorPix
Cameras. There's something for every type of photographer from
beginner to advanced. The entry level CoolPix L22, is a great buy
at $110. The CoolPix S8000 with it's advanced features and 10X
zoom is a great deal at $250. And the crown jewel of the CoolPix
P100 that has just about everything you can get in features like
26X Zoom and full manual or auto controls for a point and shoot at
$350 is a bargain.
